The blue recycling trailer for everything except cardboard is located between the ambulance garage and the ice rink on Pine Street near the corner of Townline Rd. The blue trailer is taken off the island and emptied on Monday & Thursday mornings . Otherwise, recycling is available 24/7. Cardboard recycling goes in the white semi-trailer located next to the ice skating rink. All cardboard must be broken down and stacked in the rear of the cardboard trailer to maximize capacity. Please read recycling directions on each trailer before using. Trash Removal Garbage collection on Drummond Island is handled by private companies, not by the township. Contact (906) 635-3380 or visit gflenv.com. D.I. Garbologist offers residential curbside cart pickup, available weekly or every other week, and will also operate the island’s new public transfer station. Call (906) 493-5926 for more information. A new monitored transfer station, operated by D.I. Garbologist, will open at 33648 E Johnswood Road in November 2025 and will become the only public drop-off location beginning January 2026. GFL bags will still be accepted, and D.I. Garbologist disposal bags will be available for purchase ($5 each or 11 for $50). The Johnswood Road site will feature convenient drive-up service for easy disposal. Learn more in the attached flyer.
